Welcome to Kansas Rural Health WorksWelcome to Kansas Rural Health Works, a resource dedicated to helping rural communities build affordable and sustainable local health care systems. Kansas Rural Health Works (KRHW) began in 2004 with support from the Kansas Rural Health Options Project funded through the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy. It was an initiative to expand public awareness of the importance of the economic contribution of the health care sector and its critical role in rural economic vitality. KRHW has expanded its outreach to provide information to support local decision-makers in rural communities to become proactive and involved in planning and supporting their local health systems. The ultimate objective has been to maintain local health care services, including critical access hospitals, resulting in healthier rural communities and economies.

Rural County Health Services Directories Now Available KRHW has compiled local health service and provider directories for Kansas rural counties. These directories are intended to help rural residents identify locally-accessible health care services and keep their health care spending in the community. It also supports the identification of health services "gaps" that may exist in the context of conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment. |
